Friday night’s slate gives us eleven games to choose from, so I have picked three matchups that I feel hold the best value for NHL bettors. Check out my NHL picks for these games, as we try to maxamize out our NHL betting payouts.

Lets check out some of tonight’s biggest games and cover the NHL picks I find to have the best chance of in cashing for us as the sportsbooks.

Chicago BlackhawksChicago Blackhawks vs. Ottawa Senators

NHL Odds: Over/Under 5.5

The Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators are two high-scoring teams that have had plenty of problems in net. With that logic in tow, we’ll be looking for the over in this contest.

The Blackhawks have allowed at least three goals in each of their last four games while giving up a total of 15. Meanwhile, the Senators have scored 37 goals in their last nine outings, which indicates that their offense is red hot. The over has cashed in five of their last six games overall.

The over is 18-10 when the Sens are at home with a total of 5.5 and with two good offenses and two questionable goaltenders, this game should get over the number too.

NHL Picks: Over 5.5

New Jersey Devils vs. Washington Capitals

NHL Odds: Capitals -125

How bizarre is the NHL right now?

A week ago, the New Jersey Devils were one of the hottest teams in the league while enjoying a 9-1-1 stretch. Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals had lost six of seven. But as the two teams prepare for their meeting on Friday, the Devils have lost four straight while the Capitals have won three straight.

We’re going to stick with that momentum – especially since the Capitals are at home where they tend to play a bit better. We’re also expecting to dodge Martin Brodeur, who is likely to get a breather on Friday night. He’s actually 37-21 against Washington with a 2.30 GAA, so that’s significant.

The Devils went toe-to-toe with the Boston Bruins on Thursday night and that’s likely to take a bite out of their freshness. Conversely, the Capitals have had a rather easy week with wins over Toronto on Saturday and Long Island on Tuesday.

They don’t often play home games with such low totals, but they have won five of their last seven at home where the total if set at five.

NHL Picks: Capitals

New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

NHL Odds: Rangers -150

The price seems a little too high on the New York Rangers on Friday given the circumstances. Sure, they are the better team, but should they be laying this much on the road given the fact that they played last night in Carolina?

It’s questionable, but the reason for this price tag is the fact that Tampa Bay is battling a slew of injuries. Vincent Lecavalier is out, Victor Hedman is questionable for Friday, and the team has been passing around the flu amongst themselves.

The Rangers are an excellent road team (20-8-4) and should get a boost from a fresh Henrik Lundqvist, who got the night off in Thursday’s 3-2 win in Carolina. He has a career 2.09 GAA against them and if he approaches those numbers once again, there’s a good chance his team wins.

The Rangers are 8-2 in road games where the total is set at 5.5 and they feast on sub-.500 teams, going 19-6 against teams with a losing record this year. Take the Rangers.
